Located just 30 miles north of Nashville, Gallatin has numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation, education, shopping, dining and more. The downtown square is the hub for this thriving community. The historic courthouse anchors business of all types and some of the most charming restaurants in the Nashville area. With miles of shoreline on Old Hickory lake, fishing, boating and water skiing are always just minutes away. Lock 4 Park, Triple Creek Park, Municipal Park, Clearview Park and Thompson Park offer lots of options for relaxing outdoors such as picnic pavilions, disc golf, walking greenway, dog park, swimming pool, water slide and much, much more.
Gallatin's public course, Long Hollow Golf Course is an affordable option for middle Tennessee golfers. It boasts an 18 hole regulation course, putting green, carts, tournaments and lessons. It is open 7 days a week. Neighboring Hendersonville has a public course as well; Country Hills Golf Course.
Volunteer State Community College, located on Nashville Pike, provided educational opportunities for students from Sumner and surrounding counties. It is a public, comprehensive community college offering associate degrees, certificates, continuing education.

Sumner County
Sumner County is both rural and suburban. Sumner County is located in the northern area of Middle Tennessee and is bordered by the State of Kentucky to the north, Robertson County (Springfield) to the West, Wilson County (Mt Juliet) to the Southeast and Davidson County (Nashville) to the South.
Sumner County has rich history. From historic sites to music legends to Old Hickory Lake, Sumner County has much to offer. Portland and Westemoreland boast the world famous TN Highway 52 yard sale. Portland hosts the annual strawberry festival and Hendersonville was the home of music greats Johnny Cash, Conway Twitty, Taylor Swift and many others. Goodlettsville is famous for its historic Manskers Station.
Sumner County boasts a population of over 158,000, yet still maintains a suburban atmosphere. Areas such as Portland and Westmoreland provide a farm and rural atmosphere.
