One of the most popular lakes for full-time residency in the Nashville area is Old Hickory Lake. Cities that surround this lake include Hendersonville, Gallatin, Mount Juliet, Lebanon, and Old Hickory, Tennessee. The majority of lake communities are full-time residents. Another popular lake to the southeast of Nashville is Tims Ford Lake. There are many residences both full-time and vacation-weekenders. It is approximately a 2-hour drive from Nashville. Tims Ford is known to be one of the top bass fishing lakes in the south. Another popular getaway lake is Center Hill Lake approximately a 1-hour drive to the east from Nashville.

There are no waterfront properties on Percy Priest Lake. The land surrounding the lake is for public use only. In the 1960’s the dam was built, and the reservoir engulfed the town of Old Jefferson. This town’s residents had their homes purchased, and those homes were burned to the ground.

There is a wide variety of waterfront homes and condos on the Cumberland River. Additionally, downtown Nashville is known for its riverfront, and there are valuable waterfront properties there as well. At the very least you may be able to find a condo with a fantastic riverfront view depending on the location.
